Critical Infrastructure
The federal government is in constant need of the most up-to-date, high resolution imagery for homeland security purposes. The government is unable to collect the highest-resolution imagery from satellites, so we provide it with imagery collected from our planes, which have digital cameras capable of achieving six-inch resolution. We process the collected information and sell it to the federal government through DigitalGlobe.
Besides data collection, we provide a broad range of imagery preparation and analysis, including radiometric balancing, mosaic preparation, and hyper-spectral image analysis. Further, we conduct change analysis, where we determine changes in both man-made facilities and geographic features over a period of time. We also perform infrastructure mapping of such man-made features as dams, power stations, pipelines, and drilling rigs. We can also collect and/or provide analyses of infrared imagery, digital elevation models, and government land use records.
These capabilities are of use to a broad range of industries besides the federal government, including forestry, agriculture, drilling, and mining - as well as the environmental reporting and permitting associated with each one.
