Point One Subsidiary Wins Cyberspace Contract

August 7, 2008 - XeDAR's Point One subsidiary has been selected by the Maryland Procurement Office as a lead contractor for implementing the National Military Strategy for Cyberspace Operations.  This contract has renewal extensions that can run through June 2010.  Point One will serve in a senior advisory capacity with the lead agency's Cyber Task Force.  Point One was specifically chosen because of the high level of experience of the Point One management team, not only due to their recent successful dealings within the Intelligence Community, but their extensive and unmatched individual experience serving within the U.S. military.  Most attractive was the  team's efficient and effective work with inter- and cross-agency collaboration - a top priority for the Director of National Intelligence.

This contract vehicle signals a significant move for XeDAR and its senior government clients as they address and advise in all aspects of this new war-fighting domain, cybespace.  Brig. General J.O. McFalls (USAF Retired), the President of XeDAR's National Security Division, recognizes as much, suggesting that "the relatively new domain is unlike any other, it's the  ultimate team sport.  Not only do we have to continue building security into the network, but we have to link command and control systems into a global, seamless capability.  All this while reinforcing a culture of integration across all domains - Land, Sea, Air, Space, and Cyberspace."

In recent years, as the American governmental, economic and financial sectors have become more reliant on the Internet and on virtual commerce and communication, the Internet itself - the entire network - has emerged as a lynchpin of American security.  Defending that network is tantamount to defending the American way of life, and though securing this vast and sprawling network presents a host of challenges (including contributions from every level of society from state and local governments to everyday web-surfers), it cannot be ignored if we are to be a secure society.  Developing this safety net in close collaboration with other intelligence agencies, the DoD and DHS, as well as commercial companies and private contractors like Point One, will focus ever-increasing energy and resources on this challenge for the foreseeable future.
