National Park Service Awards Contract to Point One Subsidiary

September 23, 2008 - The National Park Service (NPS) has awarded a contract to XeDAR's Point One subsidiary to assist in Phase One of the implementation of a multi-million dollar effort to create a comprehensive system to secure and manage NPS records.  The new, secure records management system is intended to address increases in the system's complexity and to facilitate the access to any deployment of appropriate NPS records to larger user populations.  The NPS anticipates that the new system will be implemented in three phases and will require a multi-million dollar effort for a 12 to 18 month period. Work under this contract to implement Phase One will be performed by XeDAR's Point One subsidiary in Arlington, Virginia.  Phase One is for $672,000 and is scheduled to be completed within six to nine months.

Smith added that "the new system will facilitate better communication and productive, secure collaboration between different physical locations within the same agency, while preserving overarching security and resource management information for all of the NPS' constituencies on a need to know basis."
