Dept. of Agriculture Awards Aerial Imagery Contract to Pixxures Subsidiary
September 11, 2008 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a contract to XeDAR's Pixxures subsidiary. The contract is for ADS40 aerial imagery of Owyhee County, Idaho, utilizing ADS40 line-scanner camera technology.
"We are pleased to be working for the USDA on this project," said Steve Jennings, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Pixxures. "Unlike other direct digital sensors that capture 3-bands (red, blue and green), ADS40 line-scanner technology is unique because of its ability to capture 4-bands (red, blue, green and infrared (IR)), simultaneously at the same resolution. The IR band is critical for extracting information from the imagery and is commonly used in applications such as change detection for pipeline encroachment monitoring, urban sprawl, deforestation, built-up feature extraction for storm water billing and watershed modeling, vegetation analysis for estimating urban greenness, crop acreage and yield, and a myriad of other applications," added Jennings.
